About the Instructors

Colin Smith is the Senior Pastor of Arlington Heights EFC where he has served since 1996. Pastor Colin is committed to Biblical preaching that is centered in God and connected to people. He is the author of the 4 volume set Unlocking the Bible Story, 10 Keys for Unlocking the Bible, 10 Keys to Unlock the Christian Life, and The 10 Greatest Struggles of Your Life.

Gary Kirst is the Senior pastor of Galena Bible Church in Galena, IL where he has served since 1990. Gary is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Ted Olsen serves as Pastor to Adults at AHEFC. He served three churches as senior pastor before he served as Professor of Practical Theology at TEDS. In September 2001, he returned to AHEFC.

Bev Savage is the Executive Pastor at AHEFC. Before coming to AHEFC, Bev served two churches in London and served as the General Secretary of a group of almost 500 Evangelical Free Churches in the United Kingdom.

Marty Schoenleber is the Senior Pastor of New Song Church in Bolingbrook, IL. Marty and a handful of Christians planted New Song Church in 1991. Marty has been the recipient of the EFCA's Church Planter of the year award and teaches classes on church planting at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  Read Marty’s blog at www.chosenrebel.blogspot.com.

About the Workshop

The Basics
Transformational Expository Preaching is preaching that is faithful to Scripture and fruitful in the church. It is directed by God’s Word and applied to God’s people.

The Transformational Expository Preaching Workshop is a time for pastors who are engaged in the preaching and teaching of God’s Word to come together and grow in their passion for the Word of God and in their ability to preach the word of God.

Working through 1 Thessalonians, this 6 week interactive workshop led by Pastor Colin Smith will help you grow in preaching that is Biblical, theological, clear, convincing, & Christ exalting. This gives pastors the opportunity to develop a message that they will actually preach later that Sunday or sometime in the future!

What to Expect

• Discover the message of 1 Thessalonians for the church today through sample expositions.
• Develop your own sermons through interaction with other preachers in small group break out sessions.
• Learn and apply the principles of transformational expository preaching.

What is Expected of You

• Come to each session with a preaching outline from 1 Thessalonians.
• Give and receive feedback with others in your small group.
